Yes, Fairfax sites are really sold

Fairfax Media has sold both its former metro print sites in Melbourne and Sydney, netting $63 million for the two.

After conflicting reports in various media outlets, the Australian publisher announced the two sales last week.

The former Age Print Centre - with its striking 'folded newspaper' sculpture - on the Tullamarine Freeway in Melbourne was first to go, purchased by Bobby Zagame, managing director of The Zagame Group, which owns and operates Zagame Automotive.

And after nosing around both properties, Charter Hall Group has signed for the former Fairfax Printers site in Sydney's Chullora for $45 million.

The company says both contracts have been exchanged with settlement expected on September 21 and November 2 respectively.
