Ken Watabe has handed over the presidency of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Printing and Packaging Machinery to Masami Shimizu.

The two helped mould MHI-P&PM into a leaner organisation better equipped to weather the harsh economic conditions still prevalent in many global markets. The company says Shimizu will lead MHI-P&PM in becoming an even more customer-oriented operation through the introduction of sophisticated technologies designed to advance printers, publishers and the graphic arts industry.

He joined Mitsubishi in 1978, working as an engineering technician in the paper and printing machinery division’s production department. As senior manager there, he oversaw renovation of the production management system and headed a production cost reduction project.

With the establishment of MHI-P&PM just a year ago, he became one of three executive vice presidents, taking charge of the corrugating machinery and box-making machinery business and all production and procurement operations.
