The ‘New Zealand Herald’ has set a date for its switch to tabloid, presenting editorial and design changes which will occur with the move to a ‘compact’ format.

With the change on September 10, the paper will have a daily stitched business supplement, with look specialist liftouts on each day of the week – Small Business on Mondays, Property Matters on Tuesdays, Business Traveller on Wednesdays, Innovation on Thursdays, Super Sport on Friday.

Metro pages also will be expanded.

A new masthead centres on the gothic typography of the existing masthead, “acknowledging our 150-year heritage, while positioning the Herald as a modern, multimedia brand,” according to Herald editor Shayne Currie.

A website redesign and Facebook reader are also planned.
