His body sore but spirit fortified, EidosMedia’s Lodovico de Briganti has raised almost $6000 for charity after biking, hiking and kayaking 100 km along the NSW coast.
With team members Andrew Lennox and Neil Keller, his effort raised $24,500 in the Smith Family Challenge event, currently the fourth-best total.
And there is still time to boost the total. Go to http://thesmithfamilychallenge.com.au/?lodovicod/ to contribute.
“I definitively now have a better understanding of the word ‘challenge’ …and also know what the mozzies are,” says de Briganti, who is the Italian systems developer’s Sydney general manager. “Many kids will benefit from this and this is the biggest achievement.”
The two-day event near Forster started with a 3.5 km by kayak journey facing rain and head winds, and then alternating bike and hike through the hills of the Wallingat and Myall Lakes national parks. “The bike legs would have been great if we didn’t have to push the bikes up the hill so many times,” he says.
More of the same on the second day involved three kilometres of kayak and paddleboard, and 35 of stiff climbs and beach hiking… another 11 hours “on the go”.
“Overall, a great experience that left me with a sore body but a fortified spirit,” he says.
