DIC Group regional marketing manager Hayato Kashiwagi will keynote at New Zealand SWUG’s conference in July.
Singapore-based Kashiwagi will discuss newspaper trends in the Asian market, some parts of which are still experiencing growth.
The 13th Single Width Users’ Group conference is being held from July 17-18 at the Novotel in Greenlane, Auckland.
Other confirmed speakers include:
– Ross Ackland, DSTO NSSTC programme manager on security risks associated with social media such as Facebook, Plaxo and LinkedIn, including how terrorists could disrupt communities;
– Jenny Stiles, business and marketing manager of Newspapers Work, which promotes newspapers and their websites to advertisers;
– Stephen Cox, Norske Skog technical customer support, will present perspectives on newsprint production and sustainability.
About 120 delegates and suppliers are expected at the two day conference, which includes a dinner and announcement of the SWUG Apprentice of the Year and quality awards.
Delegates will also visit to the new PMP headquarters in Enterprise Park, Manukau, the 22,000 m2 site to which PMP relocated in late 2011.
SWUG chairman Dan Blackbourn says 2013 would build on the great successes of the last three conferences in Christchurch, Wellington and Taupo. “Christchurch set records for attendance and sponsor support,” he says. “We also expanded by embracing the heatset sector of the industry for the first time.”
Theme of the conference is ‘Print Endures’, emphasising that even in a time of rationalisation, there is a continuing role for print in the media mix.
