What to see, who to talk to at Australia’s PacPrint

The emphasis will be on networking and information at Australia’s biggest print show, PacPrint 2013 (May 21 to 25).

And particularly, don’t expect much in the way of heavy machinery. The days when Heidelberg put a Mercury single-width press into the show – and had it in their warehouse unsold for many months afterwards – are long past.

Of the major press makers, Goss International does not have a stand – its big excitement was the launch of the new Magnum Compact at China Print the previous week – and manroland will be represented only on the Canon stand.

But digital presses… yes, aplenty. Mostly unfortunately sheetfed or wideformat, largely irrelevant to this market segment, although Fujifilm will have 10 tonnes of Jet Press 540W (pictured) on the stand it shares with Fuji Xerox.

“Never before has Fujifilm exhibited on such a large scale in Australia and New Zealand,” says Fujifilm’s graphic systems general manager Sturt Eastwood.

HP’s digital press contribution will also make Currie’s the largest stand at the show, but don’t expect to see an inkjet web running there.

Following is an alphabetical list of exhibitors we think you may find interesting, with longer detail – and manning – provided by exhibitors themselves.
