Libby Gorr – still best-known for her Elle McFeast character and work – has been named as host of Australia’s National Print Awards.

Chairman John Wanless says Gorr –currently part of the 774 ABC Melbourne radio team – has agreed to be the star of the event at Sydney’s Westin Hotel on May 23.

Gorr’s career has encompassed radio, television, print and live performance, as writer, performer, producer and multi-faceted creative. Acknowledged in Who's Who of Australian Women and the subject of Archibald Prize finalist portraits – in painting and photography – her television documentaries have been seen around the world. Most recently, she has published two books – The A-Z of Mummy Manners and A Bedtime Poem for Edible Children, both published by Harper Collins.

“Libby is an enormously talented broadcaster, writer and performer and we are delighted she has agreed to enter the ring as our headline attraction,” says Wanless.

“Whatever she’s doing, she really packs a punch and we think that makes her the ideal person to handle to the cut and thrust of the 33-round battle which is the 2014 National Print Awards.”
