In an unusual project, KBA engineers have replaced bearer on a manroland Colorman at Styria Group, working to minimise print disruption.

Staff from KBA subsidiary PrintHouseService planned work on six H-type printing units in Graz and St Veit, Austria, with military precision.

Between Sunday morning and Friday evening, nine cylinders had to be disassembled, transported to Würzburg for engineering, and returned, reassembled and adjusted.

Managing director Kurt Kribitz said production was maintained without interruption, with PHS business unit director Harald Klein adding that the operation “demonstrated just what a relatively small company is capable of working with its parent”.

Styria has two newspaper plants in Austria and one in Zagreb in Croatia, and is a subsidiary of Styria Media Group, founded in 1869. It publishes nine daily newspapers – including Kleine Zeitung – plus more than 20 weekly titles and 60 magazines.
