The entries are in and the stars aligned for Australia’s Future Forum and Newspaper of the Year awards in August.
Two more speakers have been named for the Newspaper Works event, and chief executive Mark Hollands says more than 600 competition entries have been received.
Community and weekend newspaper entries – plus those in the photography categories – drew “particularly strong” response in the awards competition, presentations for which take place at a dinner on August 21. Rockwiz questionmistress and Eurovision tragic Julia Zemiro is set to host the event.
Hollands says finalists for regional and community newspaper of the year, and those for the digital publishing, photography and technical excellence categories will be announced on July 16; those for the national metro and weekend newspaper of the year contests will be revealed on July 22.
Hollands says the contribution of each is vital: “It is important that our industry maintains the tradition of coming together once a year and celebrating our best journalism, photography and production standards,” he says.
Advertising and marketing awards – for which finalists were announced on May 29 – will be presented at a separate event on August 20.
