Pleased with their earlier efforts on a Cromoman 50/70, KBA’s PrintHouseService unit has completed another manroland upgrade for a South African newspaper printer.
This time attention turned to a seven-year-old hybrid Uniset 75 which client Paarl Coldset Durban had bought from Universal Web and wanted installed at its Johannesburg print site following extensive repairs.
The German/South African engineering team had worked with Paarl Coldset – part of technologically advanced Paarl Media Group – to retrofit and re-commission the Cromoman in Pietermaritzburg last November.
Neel Naicker, managing director of Paarl Coldset Johannesburg and Paarl Media Commercial says the work wa completed within schedule: “We achieved great co-operation with all the PHS technicians which led to an outstanding result, with their competent and highly motivated employees helping make this project a success.”
Paarl Coldset produces 342 million copies a year of daily, weekly and Sunday newspapers – including national daily the Daily Sun – at a network of plants in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Bloemfontein and Pietermaritzburg. It is part of the Media24 publishing group.
