Two NP100 conveyor lines and a dual motor NP630 inserter are to be upgraded at Gannett's Jackson, Mississippi, print facility for the Clarion-Ledger.
Electronic Design Group (EDG) and Newspaper Solutions have been commissioned to retrofit two NP100 gripper deliveries that feed off the inserter, replace a servo motor and drive with standard AC equipment and a NP630 inserter with new PLCs and AC drives/motors, formerly DC.
The project will provide more reliable operation with the replacement of obsolete parts. Extensive diagnostics - with the addition of touch screens on each piece of equipment and remote support capability - are additional benefits. The project is scheduled for completion by this September.
