A new version of vjoon's K4 embeds a table editor into the browser.
The 6.9 R1 version of the cross-media publishing platform extends capabilities with new functions including an asset manager.
Unveiled at the European user conference held in Hamburg, it includes the table editor for the ICML browser client.
The application's workspace management functions have also been ported to the K4 Edit and K4 Layout plug-ins so that they are now available throughout the publishing platform. Added XMP image metadata management capabilities make it easier to archive and retrieve pictures. A direct link to Twitter is also included.
Users have long been able to embed and manage Excel spreadsheets in K4, but the new release extends options for editing tables in the browser. Chief executive Andreas Schrader BASF has already taken to the technology, which it demonstrated at the conference.
Legacy functions have also been refined to boost K4 Web Editor ICML's performance as a browser client - an example being improved search which now indicates that the target text has been scanned.
Metadata in media assets such as images and videos can now be handled in the 6.9 version, and is loaded to the K4 database. The feature has been added for the InCopy and InDesign plug-ins, K4 Edit and K4 Layout.
