Advertising and marketing categories in PANPA's Newspaper of the Year awards have open this week with Country Press Association members joining the contest.
The competition for member publishers in the Asia-Pacific combines advertising awards with the marketing category of the Newspaper of the Year awards, with segmentation by emma-defined readership and covers all platforms.
Chief executive of organiser The Newspaper Works Mark Hollands says categories and criteria are based on readership rather than circulation, illustrating the industry's transformation to a balance of print and digital assets. "These awards allow us to recognise the outstanding talent and work that is reshaping how the newspaper industry markets and sells itself to readers, advertisers and media agencies."
Advertising categories recognise publishers' in-house work only, while both agency and in-house executions are eligible for the marketing categories.
Entries close on May 22 and finalists will be announced on July 1. Winners will be announced on September 10 at a cocktail event at the Zeta Bar at Sydney's Hilton Hotel at the end of the first day of the Future Forum.
Entries for the Newspaper of the Year awards will open on May 25 with finalists announced on August 12 and winners presented at a dinner on September 11 at the Hilton Hotel.
