After the setback of restrictions on marketing its ‘markless’ mode in Germany, QI Press Controls has sold its first mRC install automatic colour and cut-off register control system to a newspaper printer in its home country of the Netherlands. The company says the order from manroland to equip a Regioman 4/1 newspaper press at Drukkerij Vorsselmans is unique in several respects: Apart from being the first mRC delivery to a Dutch printer, it will be the first time QI has equipped a Regioman press. QI sales and marketing manager Jaco Bleijenberg is obviously delighted by the order: “In the current market we need to really do our utmost to win business, but we have been lucky to convince customers to invest in our products so they can realise waste reductions and improve quality in the short term.” Due for installation in August, the three-tower Regioman – a double-width press with a one-around format – is being installed in Zundert, just 35 kilometres from the colour registration specialist’s head office in Oosterhout. Privately-owned ‘Koninklijke’ Drukkerij Vorsselmans was founded in 1902 and awarded the ‘royal’ designation on their centenary. The core business is publishing a total of 18 different free local weekly newspapers with a total circulation of 500,000 copies, as well as contract printing.
