The 70,000 cph Solna D390 – claimed to be one of the world’s fastest presses – will consist of 24 four-high towers and ten F480C folders for newspaper and magazine production. The newly-announced order, which includes ancillary equipment, was signed in mid-April in conjunction with agents Ekpac Graphics in Guangzhou.
The installation in mid 2010 will remove a production bottleneck and further enhance printing quality and efficiency, while production of commercial work will strengthen the Nanfang Group’s economic position.
With the largest order in Solna’s 60-year history, Nanfang Daily Media Group becomes the Swedish manufacturer’s largest customer. The company says the project is also expected to be the largest in China this year and one of the largest in the history of the Chinese graphic arts industry.
During the contract signing ceremony, Solna president and chief executive Jorgen Karlsson said the order for the D390 – now the world’s fastest single-width single-round printing press – raised cooperation between Solna and Nanfang newspaper to a new level.
President of Nanfang Daily Media Group Yang Xing Feng says the group has already built a solid platform in newspaper, magazine publishing and digital newspapers, moving gradually to establish a brand name which is well-known, “not only in China but also internationally”.
Also pictured at the contract ceremony are Wang Chuanfu, chief editor of Nanfang Daily Media Group, and Zhong Guangming, general manager.
