Installation of a fifth Kodak Prosper press at Toppan Forms will make it the world's largest user of the Stream-based inkjet web press systems.
The order was announced at the DRUPA tradeshow, and will be the first Prosper 6000C in the Japanese market. It will be used for variable textbook and business mail printing.
Toppan Forms senior managing director and general manager Akira Kameyama says the investment is testament to Toppan's confidence in Kodak's Stream inkjet technology and the "overwhelming printing productivity" it delivers: "Our existing presses have been running at full production, and the addition of a fifth Prosper press will enable us to continue our path of steady growth and best serve our customers across multiple markets," he says.
President of Kodak's enterprise inkjet systems division Philip Cullimoresays the company is delighted to strengthen its relationship with one of the global print industry's leading print service providers: "We will continue working closely with them to ensure they capitalise on all the benefits the Prosper 6000C press delivers," he says.
Toppan Forms is active in a variety of information-based businesses, including integration of printed matter and electronic documents, information media such as RFID and IC, and the development of products compatible with printed electronics technologies.
