CCI has started moving its NewsGate clients to the Amazon cloud, with an uneventful changeover in Texas.
A.H. Belo properties the Dallas Morning News and Denton Record-Chronicle have become the first sites to run NewsGate in the Amazon cloud, and while a great deal of work went into the transition, newsrooms hardly seemed to notice.
CCI says the move was a major step for longtime partner A.H. Belo, and as the leading newspaper and local digital media provider in the Dallas-Fort Worth, US area, they could have easily got nervous about moving all their print production from in-house infrastructure to a cloud-based solution.
After all the preparations, the switch went smoothly: "Indeed, the first day of production with CCI NewsGate's cloud solution was the best kind of rollout - anti climactic," said Belo director of technology Jeremy Van Zee says, adding that he heard one team member remark that it "works just like before".
