Big heatset products are becoming a way of life for WKS unit Kraft-Schlötels, which is supplementing a second 160-page press with a world-first 120-pager.

The manroland Lithoman innovations have been premiered at a celebration in the German town of Wassenberg - close to the Netherlands border - attended by customers, suppliers and politicians including environment minister Barbara Hendricks.

The 120-page press is the result of combining existing 48-page and 72-page Lithoman presses. The 160-page press launched at the same time, is the company's second.

WKS managing director Ralph Dittman says the group is committed to using the latest technologies: "The cooperation with manroland web systems has paid off in all respects, with all of our Lithoman presslines doing an excellent job regarding production stability, quality and productivity.

"After a very good cooperation and realisation of the complex project for the first two 160-page presses, it was totally clear that we again opted for the Augsburg team to combine our 48 and 72-page presses," he says.
