More commercial work is on the horizons for the Seattle Times' Walla Walla, Washington, print site following the relocation of a three-tower press with quarterfold.
The new 13-unit press for the Walla Walla Union-Bulletin replaces an older Goss Urbanite, and is being removed from Pendleton, Oregon, and installed by ImPressions Worldwide.
It has Tensor towers and a DGM 1030 folder with Jardis zero-speed splicers, making it capable of higher quality four-colour with added versatility and flexibility.
Another Seattle Times site, the Yakima Herald will support the project and run jobs for Walla Walla and Pendleton. The project is expected to see live jobs in production before Christmas.
Tom Loesch, president of WA-headquartered ImPressions, described it as a "fun project" which will position Walla Walla for long term print success. "Walla Walla continues to grow and gain popularity as a well-respected wine region in Washington State," he says.
"We are honoured to be awarded this project by the Seattle Times and to work in such a beautiful place. We love the Pacific Northwest and executing local projects for the great people who live and work here."
