News Corp has taken its Kayo Sports streaming service to PlayStation with a new app for PS4 and PS5.
The launch into games consoles gives Australian fans access to the company’s content – including more than 50 live and on demand domestic and international sports from producers including Fox Sports, beIn Sports and ESPN – via the TV and video section.
Kayo Sports chief executive Julian Ogrin says the platform has been experiencing “massive subscriber growth” and was always looking to improve its user experience, as well as making the service more available. The PlayStation launch follows the addition of access on some Hisense TVs.
PlayStation ANZ general manager Goncalo Fialho says many Aussie gamers are obsessed with sport. “Our exciting partnership with Kayo continues to make PlayStation the best place to play and be entertained and gives our players even more ways to watch all their favourite sports content they want on their consoles.”
Kayo claims the fastest rate of growth of Australian sports streaming platform since its launch in late 2018, with passing a million paying subscribers in May.
The second half of 2021 promises the NRL and AFL finals, and a new broadcast agreement with the National Basketball League covering every game of the 2021/22 season live via ESPN on Kayo, and two games a week on Kayo Freebies. A “blockbuster” summer of cricket will be highlighted by the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, Women’s Test series against India and the “hotly anticipated” Ashes on home soil.
