An update of systems will enable India’s Hindustan Times to integrate QuarkXpress advertising and editorial files into its workflow.
Publisher HT Media is one of the country’s leading media companies, with the English-language flagship having a circulation of about 1.6 million copies.
As part of a future-orientated overhaul of production and editorial solutions infrastructure, a current version of QuarkXPress is being integrated into the ppi Media production workflow to edit editorial content.
HT uses a variety of ppi solutions including those for planning and ad production management. The latest update will see software replaced by the latest product versions as the company moves to long-term support releases. This provides regular technological and functional innovations, with a fixed update and support schedule.
A new editor to design ads is also being integrated, together with a workflow for magazine production.
Along with InDesign, QuarkXPress is often a crucial production tool for publishers in India in terms of layout and editing. The ppi Media XML interface is being integrated into current versions so that HT Media can implement QuarkXPress in the established production workflow.
Group head of publishing services Kapil Arora (pictured) says he is delighted to be working on the new technological footing. “The deep integration of the workflow components is vitally important to us,” he says.
