Software standardisation across Mediahuis sites will see EAE workflow and quality control upgrades at Noord Grafisch Bedrijf in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.
Having increased print quality automation – covering colour density, register, damp and ink control – with sister company QI Press Controls, the former NDC Mediagroep Grafisch Bedrijf site is now modernising production planning and order preparation.
Project manager Paul Mutgeert says the site will add the VIP system – including reel data – to familiar EAC solutions covering press planning and page workflow. “Whereas before we had to use different applications, with the introduction of VIP we can process the order flow from a single central system,” he says.
VIP – for ‘visual intelligent plant – allows planning and visualisation of the entire production flow, before, during and after printing. It provides support in planning, creating plates and paper feed, press configuration, packaging and inserting, and through to bundling at the loading dock. Reeldata records paper consumption and quality data, providing company-wide cost optimisation and control.
Workflow at the Leeuwarden site will follow that at Paal Beringen in Belgium, while other Medihuis sites use the same quality control solutions, enabling them to exchange knowledge and increase process and product quality.
