Upgrading DAM technology at European publisher DPG Media centralised content management across multiple platforms, improving collaboration between editorial teams and reducing production time through automated workflows.
A solution based on WoodWing’s Assets and Studio products at the Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark media giant improved scalability and flexibility for future growth, according to an article reproduced from UK Press Gazette.
The digital asset management components, teamed with a modular content creation and publishing platform helped the publisher modernise its content operations, improve efficiency and maintain its competitive edge.
DPG Media publishes more than 80 mastheads – including some of the biggest Dutch newspapers – as well as magazines and digital platforms.
Programme manager Erik Louwes said the group’s traditional content management systems struggled to keep up with volume as digital commitments led to expanded content production.”We faced delays in managing and distributing content, and this inefficiency slowed down time-to-market for new stories and created inconsistencies across platforms.
“With content being stored in various silos, tracking and reusing assets became a bottleneck,” he said.
The pressure on existing systems led to stability and reliability problems, to the point that daily printing processes were regularly jeopardised.
WoodWing’s advanced Assets DAM was combined with its modular Studio CMS, equipped with an Adobe InDesign plugin that simplified workflow and helped centralise and streamline creation and distribution.
Working with partner Qonqord, a phased approach to implementation started out with critical departments, to minimize disruption, and included training programmes to familiarise staff with the new tools and functionalities, emphasizing collaboration across teams.
“A gradual rollout allowed the organisation to identify pain points and adjust workflows without overwhelming our employees,” Louwes says.
Results have been “transformative”, with faster, more efficient content distribution across platforms, reducing production time significantly.
