Guns for hire: vjoon’s K4 facilitates tests and growth

German developer vjoon (formerly SoftCare) is the latest to offer its software as a rental option.

The option offers publishers the ability to hire K4 workstations, web editor and other system component licenses according to workload demand. vjoon says new customers will be able to test the system, while existing ones can add additional K4 seats as needed.

K4 runs locally or remotely, with the costs for Adobe InDesign CS4 Server and database are included. This enables Adobe InDesign and InCopy users to test the system.

Director of business development Holger Kraemer says rental customers can enjoy the complete K4 portfolio, making full use of web-based K4 applications such as the web editor and the production-monitoring overview tool. The K4 rental application allows customers to make full use of the MadeToPrint Server automation tool released this April without having to buy a second Adobe InDesign Server.
