With everyone seemingly a publisher with a CMS, the Australian government goes live today with a new Acquia-based website.

First up on the new govCMS platform is the australia.gov.au home page used by more than two million visitors every month.

Government chief technology officer John Sheridan says the cloud-based is designed to support "some of the world's most sophisticated and ruggedly resilient digital experiences".

The Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority will be among the first external agencies to adopt govCMS; the full migration of the authority's site to govCMS is planned for early 2015.

Free training courses to introduce the govCMS in Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne this Friday are part of Drupal global training days to introduce new and beginning users to Drupal.

The Acquia platform features a Digital Experience Cloud, which helps engineers create and manage high-quality applications faster. The company says it simplifies the management of a complex portfolio of sites for engineers and architects.
