Goss is to sell Akiyama sheetfed presses in North America, integrating the regional organisation of the company with which it is associated through China’s Shanghai Electric (Group) Corporation. Sales and support of the Akiyama International Company’s organisation covers a range of products in the US and Canada, including the Jprint perfecting presses. Several members of the Akiyama sales and service team have joined the Goss, which says independent dealers will continue to market Akiyama products in some parts of the region. Goss International president and chief executive Jochen Meissner says Akiyama offers unique technology and that the integration creates a larger, stronger support network: “Our North American infrastructure provides a substantial platform to support existing customers as well as a growth strategy for Akiyama products in the region.” He says the Jprint presses in particular – which perfect without reversing the sheets – offer “a compelling alternative” to traditional four-over-four sheetfed perfectors. Akiyama also manufactures Supertech, eXtreme and Bestech press models for commercial and packaging applications.
