An 80-page Compacta 818 heatset web with a format-variable V5 folder at Sego in France is a first for maker KBA. The press has a 2060 mm web width, 1197 mm cylinder circumference and prints at speeds up to 45,000 revolutions per hour. The V5 gripper-folder – which has its origins in gravure – supports production of 72-page A4 long grain products or 80-page long grain products in a slightly reduced A4 format. In short grain production, Sego can produce 96 pages in the popular pocket size or 84 pages in near-A4 format. Features include stitching of short grain products in the folder, while automatic presetting reduces waste and maximises net output. gx
