US-based press peripherals maker Jardis Industries has developed a prefolder system for double and single-width presses which increases format options for advertisers and publishers.
Flexible options include the ability to create a flap on the front page of a broadsheet, delivering a new sales opportunity for advertisers.
The company has demonstrated the system – teamed with a ribbon deck – on manroland Geoman presses similar to many in use at a number of Asia-Pacific print sites.
Newspaper printers throughout the region have been looking at ways to expand the use of plant which may have been installed originally to print only a daily newspaper.
A typical upgrade delivers an advertisement flap of 125-250 mm in width on the outside or inside of the front page web (pictured).
“These are advertising products which were previously offered in commercial printing markets,” says sales manager Gary Klawinski.
