manroland web systems owner Possehl has bought the former company’s UK web business after it became insolvent.
The deal with MRGB Realisations Limited, formerly manroland Great Britain Limited (in insolvency administration), covers the business and assets of the UK web division.
Lübeck, Germany, based Possehl takes over service for the majority of the UK’s installed base of manroland newspaper and commercial web offset presses under a new company, manroland web systems (UK) Ltd. It will be based in Maidenhead, Berkshire, and headed by former web division director John Ellis.
David Baxendale, administrator of MRGB Realisations Limited, and a director at PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP, says: “Following the earlier sale of the UK sheetfed business and the transfer of 37 employees, securing a sale of the webfed business concludes the disposal of the business of manroland Great Britain Limited preserving a further eight jobs.”
Peter Kuisle, executive vice president sales, service and marketing at manroland web systems in Augsburg is delighted with the outcome, “most of all because it gives us the possibility to provide our UK customers with all the products and services manroland as web offset market leader stands for”.
