manroland has handed over the world’s largest Uniset, a 16-tower line at Singapore Press Holdings. SPH has formally accepted the press line in a ceremony to mark the official commissioning of the entire Media Centre NewPress project in downtown Singapore. Dr. Tony Tan Keng Yam, chairman of Singapore Press Holdings, is full of praise to partners for their “commitment and support”. Executive vice president web printing system sales at manroland, Peter Kuisle says the company was delighted to be recognised as a key partner: “SPH is regarded in the industry as an extremely professional and demanding customer. “The success of this project can largely be attributed to the outstanding collaboration between the two companies.” The plant prints titles including ‘Asahi Shimbun’, ‘Nihon Keisai’ and the ‘International Herald Tribune’, in addition to its own products, ‘Berita Harian’, ‘Berita Minggu’ and ‘My Paper’. The eight-page newspaper press is fitted with automated features for productivity and flexibility for both short and long runs Says Anthony Cheng, SPH’s senior vice president of production and chairman of the project steering committee: “I intend to make this press the best running Uniset in the world.”
