The upgrade – replacing the Sunday Magazine from March 3 – goes against the flow of recent magazine inserts being downgraded to newsprint or improved newsprint to save costs through internal production.
News says the move will boost the group’s appeal to lifestyle advertisers. It will focus on fashion, popular culture, food, travel “and more”, and complements lifestyle brands including body+soul and taste.com.au.
NewsLifeMedia said Sunday Style – which will run across print, tablet, mobile and social – was “destined to be Australia’s most powerful style experience”.
Contributors will include Hamish Blake, Zoe Foster, Jane Kennedy and Sarrah Le Marquand. Kelly Hume, who has previously worked at InStyle, Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar, will be the new publication’s fashion director, with Cleo Glyde as beauty and lifestyle director.
