APN keeps its results close after shake-up

No public presentation of APN's full-year profit results is expected today The Australian newspaper has reported.

Instead the paper says chief financial officer Jeff Howard will hold one-on-one briefings with key investors.

The company has also told the stock exchange that Independent News & Media (Australia) Limited and News & Media NZ Limited have withdrawn their section 249D notice calling for a general meeting to remove certain of APN's directors. This follows the resignations of chairman Peter Hunt, chief executive Brett Chenoweth and other directors.

New chairman Peter Cosgrove - who is not the former Australian defence chief as widely reported by media and repeated here this week - is understood to have signed off on the financial report.

Cosgrove has been a member of the of the APN board since December 2003, and was the founder of the Buspak group of companies in Australia, New Zealand and Hong Kong, with more than 20 years experience in the outdoor advertising industry. According to the APN corporate website, he is non-executive chairman of Buspak Hong Kong (since June 2003), as well as non-executive deputy chairman of Clear Media Limited (director since April 2001), which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He is chairman of broadcasting company GlobeCast Australia (since June 2002). He served as a director of Independent News & Media from April 1988 to June 2009.

No announcement has been made about the appointment of a chief executive.
