El Comercio in Lima, Peru, has bought a second-hand manroland Uniset, the first manroland newspaper press in the country.
Dutch specialist GWS handled the sale of the seven-year-old 12-tower Uniset 75 from Newsfax, and will be assisted by manroland web systems for parts of the engineering and recommissioning.
An extra folder is being supplied and web leads modified to turn the existing two-folder press – which has 12 H-type towers and 12 splicers – into a three-section press.
Drives and controls are being switched to 60Hz, and the extra folder is being upgraded.
GWS’ Walter Donkers says manroland will take over complete construction as well as the recommissioning.
The biggest printer in Peru, El Comercio already has a Lithoman commercial web and is expanding its printing site with the new press.
