manroland is to build its first short-grain 64-page Lithoman heatset web for a German customer.

The ‘gravure dimensions’ press is a new commercial configuration for the Augsburg web press maker. Sales manager Josef Aumiller says the productivity and flexibility of the press offers “another strong alternative” for high-volume print.

“Reducing costs continues to be the main customer requirement, while the demand for production flexibility is increasing – the same press must be as efficient for high-volume printing as for part editions. The short-grain 64-page press achieves this aim and takes its place as one of the production heroes for commercial printing – alongside the 96-page Lithoman (six installed) and the 160-page Lithomanm (installed at Kraft-Schlötels in Wassenberg, Germany).

The short-grain 64-page press will be rated at up to 70,000 cylinder revolutions per hour, have a web width of 2640 mm and a cut-off of up to 872 mm. Among features are the autoprint equipment of fully-automated APL plate change and Inline Control systems.
