KBA is working with Italian systems developer Logica to bring production planning and control systems to the Asian market.
The German press maker’s Radebeul unit has been working with Logica – as well as MIS developer Optimus and PPS software from the LogoTronic range – since DRUPA in 2012.
The latest outcome is the teaming of the DataProduction data capture module with the KBA ProductivityPlus software suite to capture data, preview current jobs and view of the production status as well as monitoring production processes via a BDE terminal.
Press operators can log on using smart cards or the touch-screen, and charts are available to analyse production processes.
Management can access data and check production in real time from outside the company via a web browser on a smartphone or tablet.
KBA says the suite can be adapted and expanded to meet the specific needs, with options covering job management, prepress tools, a preflight check and FTP server management.
Makeready times are reduced and precise information regarding consumables helps optimise material management.
KBA says “a raft of print firms” are using ProductivityPlus and Logica solutions, with more than 50 systems in China alone.
