Finalists in Australia’s Newspaper of the Year, news website and print centre awards have been announced by The Newspaper Works.
Chief executive Mark Hollands says that “with some of the best newspapers in the world”, the challenge of trying to decide a set of finalists – never mind a winner – has been tough.
task,” he said. A change of criteria for the Newspaper of the Year has placed greater emphasis on the quality of journalism, digital execution and the ability to record a growing audience.
Five print centres – APN Yandina, Fairfax North Richmond and Tamworth, WAN’s Herdsman and News Corp Australia’s Sydney Print Centre – are shortlisted for the new top award.
The awards will be presented across two nights, starting with the Advertising & Marketing Awards at The Establishment in Sydney on August 20, followed the next evening by the Newspaper of the Year gala night at The Ivy, hosted by media personality Julia Zemiro.
