Adventurer Steve Gurney and Allied Press chairman Sir Julian Smith (left) are among keynoters slated for New Zealand SWUG’s conference next month.

Four weeks out from the two-day event in Dunedin, chairman Danny Blackbourn says 110 delegates and sponsors have registered with the prospect of record-breaking attendance.

The event takes place at the Scenic Hotel Southern Cross from August 27-28.

Blackbourn says delegates and sponsors are arriving from all over the world to participate: “We have some great speakers and presentations planned, and the entertainment over the two nights will most certainly impress.”

Presentations will cover topics including future-proofing paper production, changes to print training, a press plant upgrade, the impact of rollers and maintenance, thermal plate technology, ink developments, Pride In Print news, developments with two press manufacturers, changes to OHS legislation, and press chemistry information as well as an insight to oils and additives.

In addition to the presentation of the Single Width Users Group quality awards and apprentice of the year, the programme includes a site visit to the Otago Daily Times’ headquarters.

“The intention is for the conference to meet everyone's need in our sector of the printing industry,” says Blackbourn. “Delegates will hear from manufacturers and suppliers, with networking providing the opportunity to mix with fellow printers and others involved in the industry and learn from their experiences and knowledge.”

The conference programme is at www.swug.co.nz or phone Dan Blackbourn on 021 770 804 for further information.
