Canon salesmen took time out from their Australian mid-year conference to kick up a storm for the needy.

Professional print senior general manager Mike Boyle says the project with charity OzHarvest was part of a responsibility to make a contribution that extends to the greater community and enriching people’s lives.

OzHarvest is a food rescue organisation which picks up food that would otherwise end up in landfill from more than 2000 food donors, and delivers to more than 500 charities. Some 21 refrigerated vans operate in Sydney, Wollongong, Newcastle, Adelaide, Brisbane, Melbourne and the Gold Coast.

Canon took part in a corporate ‘cooking for a cause’ programme with employees learning how to cook, and helping produce more than 600 meals.

“It was a privilege for our people to be involved with OzHarvest and be given an opportunity to make a contribution back to the community in this way,” says Boyle. “What OzHarvest have achieved should inspire us as individuals and even more so as a team that our actions can indeed make a positive difference, whether it’s with the wider community or with our customers.”
