With its sale to Babcock & Wilcox confirmed, Megtec is selling its AR60/70 turret splicer technology.

DCOS Sweden will buy the IP and inventory of the former Amal integrated splicers, following Megtec’s decision to stop making them earlier this year.

About 900 of the about 1000 made are still in production these will still be supported by B&W Megtec with parts and service.

DCOS chief executive Mattias Andersson says the acquisition was important to DCOS’ overall portfolio and future offerings: “It underlines our commitment to the graphic industry.

“The AR60/70 platform is extremely well engineered and reliable and I we feel it will fit well with our other offers for this industry.”

Beyond its core business is control systems and automation, DCOS owns single-width press maker Tensor International, which it acquired in 2012.

• Patrik Martinsson has joined DCOS as a sales and project manager with a primary focus on camera-based print inspection systems and the retrofit of drive and control systems. Martinsson spent ten years as production manager of NWT (Nya Wermlands Tidningen) in Sweden. He was most recently web-offset service manager at manroland Sweden and then KBA Nordic.
