A new Screen inkjet web will tackle a wide range of products during the Hunkeler InnovationDays event this month.
The Truepress Jet520HD, announced late last year, will be running alongside a standard Jet520 press at the event in Lucerne, Switzerland from February 23-26.
In live demonstrations, they will print a variety of commercial work including cookery books and short-run magazines, with the 520HD also producing a complete set of Hunkeler brochures in five languages. Work will be saddle-stitched on the Screen stand, with the cookery books perfect-bound on the Hunkeler/Horizon stand, and the two presses will combine to print a ticketing application for the Hunkeler laser perforating line.
Screen will also show a redesigned version of its camera-based Jetinspection security system which is fully integrated into its Equios workflow. QUIOS. This is a real-time system to compare the printed result to the RIP data, and also forms the basis of an automated reprint workflow.
The 520HD (for high definition) has new printheads capable of up to 1200 x 1200 dpi, wide-gamut high-density inks, new screening software, new paper transport and drying system. A wider range of paper from 40-250gsm can be handled including some standard offset stocks.
Screen Australia managing director Peter Scott says it solves the issue that has kept many printers away from high volume inkjet for commercial work - image quality. While not taking on extreme high-speed machines, it operates at 120 metres per minute at 600 x 600dpi or 50 mpm at 1200 x 1200 dpi, across a 520mm wide web.
First installations have taken place in the Netherlands and Switzerland, with additional orders reported from the USA and Japan.
Screen Australia's northern region sales manager James Haisman is attending the event to meet Australian customers.
