KBA unit PrintHouseService will refit electronics on a manroland Ecoman for German printing company Mundschenk Druck und Vertriebsgesellschaft.

While mechanically meeting most market demands, operational safety of the press is at risk with its control system and spare parts are increasingly difficult to find.

PHS will replace the complete control system from the reelstand to the folder will be replaced with standard hardware which it says will be available for a long time to come. Discontinued manufactured hardware will be made fit for the future with new console, drive, section control and production planning technology, with PHS guaranteeing availability 24/7 through remote service.

The plan is to use modular pre-finished assemblies to facilitate the exchange of the electronic parts without major impacts to production - a parallel control system being set up and tested by day, while production continues as normal at night.
