Adobe is adding privately-owned design showcase Behance to its cloud-based hub for creatives following an acquisition announced last month.
The company’s Creative Cloud has recently been upgraded with training, file synchronisation and sharing capabilities, as well as digital publishing services and product updates.
Behance, a social media platform with more than a million members, now joins that offering, providing a base to create, publish and share their work.
Adobe senior vice president and general manager David Wadhwani says Behance will play a key role in efforts to serve the creative world, and will “accelerate efforts to enable a more open and collaborative creative community.”
With more than three million projects hosted on the platform, portfolios on Behance-powered sites have been receiving upwards of 90 million views a month,
“We set out to connect the creative world and maximize the exposure that creatives receive for their work,” said Scott Belsky, Behance co-founder and chief executive officer. “We're thrilled to join Adobe and empower creative careers on a global scale.”
As well as its role as a showcase for creative work, Behance also powers portfolio displays for thousands of other websites including AdWeek, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and The Smithsonian National Design Awards.
Adobe says it plans to integrate Behance’s community and portfolio capabilities – which include job search facilities – with Creative Cloud. Paid members of Adobe’s Creative Cloud will gain access to the Behance ProSite.
Belsky is joining Adobe as Behance vice president, and will lead creative community efforts.
