WAN-Ifra has set the date and venue for its fifth Digital Media Asia event.
It will be held at the Shangri-La hotel in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from November 12-14.
“Digital is not business as usual,” says Asia Pacific director, events and publications, Gilles Demptos. “For re-inventing news media on mobile devices, engaging users via social media and generating new advertising revenues, creativity and talent must take the lead.”
The organisation promises “inspiration and concrete business ideas” from forward-looking media organisations at the event.
As previously, three focussed days are planned for the conference:
Day 1: Online and Social Media: The huge growth in social media communities is a phenomenon that traditional media companies can no longer ignore. Content monetisation remains a hot topic. Expert presentations and best practices on social media and online monetisation will be presented.
Day 2: Tablet and mobile Publishing: 66 million tablets were sold worldwide in 2011. Within two years, the global sales of tablet devices are forecasted to grow by 180% to reach $154 million. Mobile ad spend, estimated at 3.3 billion dollars for 2011, is forecasted to skyrocket to 20.6 billion by 2015. How can publishers position their offers to exploit this opportunity?
Day 3: Digital Business Innovations. Revenue diversification is a question of survival for news organisation in the digital era. Media houses must leverage on their brands and sell beyond their core products and services. This session will explore the new business opportunities that the digital economy opens for media companies.
