Confirmed speakers at Digital Media Asia include Economist digital advertising vice president Audra Martin and Anjali Kapoor, digital news strategy director at Canada’s Globe & Mail.
The WAN-Ifra event is being held from November 12-14 in Kuala Lumpur.
Martin, vice president for digital advertising, content marketing solutions and publishing operations at The Economist, has also worked in product and content development, customer experience, and technology over the last 15 years, and previously for the New York Times.
Anjali Kapoor (pictured) is responsible for the editorial strategic direction of their digital sites and has been helping shift the traditional newsroom into a digital culture. She has worked for Yahoo!, Microsoft Canada, Transcontinental Media, Sun Media and Rogers.
Other speakers include:
• Naoki Onodera, manager of Mainichi Shimbun's digital publishing office, where heis chiefly in charge of managing development of apps, e-books and e-magazines, and to establish the papers’ digital strategy.
• Byron Perry, founder and managing director of Thailand’s Coconuts Media;
• Christina Lo Man Ki, deputy editor-in-chief of Apple Daily, Hong Kong, who
joined the publisher in 2008 to kick start its animated news video project;
• Dan Sloan, editor-in-chief at the Nissan Motor Compnay’s global media centre in Yokohama, Japan, where he leads a global team producing multimedia digital content about the car maker and its brands;
• Joachim Schmaltz, Asia vice president of Reuters Media in Hong Kong;
• Kiruba Shankar, chief executive of Indian social media consultancy BusinessBlogging and an entrepreneur, social media consultant, speaker, author, teacher, podcaster and farmer.
• Mal Dale, general manager of The Readership Works in Australia; and
• Sachin Gopalan, chief executive of Berita Satu Media Holdings in Indonesia, which has a single newsroom of more than 400 journalists and producers.
