Want to know how the WaPo is going under Jeff Bezos? A WEF-organised party of international editors is set to find out.

A morning at the Washington Post – where editors will attend the morning editorial meeting and talk with executive editor Marty Baron and others to learn how the Post is adapting to the media world and the paper’s new owner – is a highlight of a World Editors Forum tour of US media innovators.

The group will visit both traditional and new media organisations in New York and Washington DC next month. Organised in cooperation with the Newspaper Association of America, the US Study Tour will visit established media organisations such as the Post and the New York Times, as well as companies that are changing the landscape – Huffington Post, Buzzfeed, Facebook and others.

“In today’s media environment, editors are looking far and wide for good ideas to develop in both print and digital,” says WEF executive director Cherilyn Ireton. “We want to give them a look at the best strategies, no matter where they originate.”

The tour will run from November 4-8. Full details are at http://www.wan-ifra.org/node/70053

Among other highlights is a meeting with key editors of the Wall Street Journal followed by a conversation with Raju Narisetti, deputy head of strategy for News Corp.

Confirmed visits for the tour include the Washington Post, USA Today, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Digital First’s Thunderdome newsroom, Buzzfeed, Facebook and the Huffington Post.

Participants will also take a private tour of the Newseum museum in Washington, which is dedicated to the history of news and journalism (pictured).
