How is the New York Times doing against its online competitors… and how do you compare?
WAN-Ifra plans a visit there in September to find out.
On the agenda (so far) are also the Wall Street Journal, CBS television network, ESPN, HuffPost Live, News Distribution Network, the Washington Post, USA Today, Vice, Politico and Associated Press Video.
The event is scheduled for September 15-19.
Among the questions tour leader Randy Covington will want answered are:
• How are their newsrooms shaping up to new challenges (especially video)?
• How do they create and curate good video content and collect enough revenue to make the investment worthwhile?
• What can we learn from the broadcast giants?
• And how are disruptive online video competitors planning to eat the lunch of the big news publishers?
Covington has the “perfect” background, including the journalism faculty at the University of South Carolina, in addition to most of his career managing TV operations in the US. He is currently director of the WAN-Ifra Newsplex Training Centre.
