Metro and regional newspapers and a variety of magazines will be available to Qantas customers under a new deal with PressReader.

The airline will make PressReader's almost 4000 titles available via its Qantas App, enabling them customers to download magazines and newspapers prior to their flight.

Brand, marketing and corporate affairs executive Olivia Wirth says the investment will enable to choose from the platform's library before they take off:

"We built PressReader into the existing Qantas app to make it easier for customers to manage all parts of the journey through the one application," she says.

Customers tap a tile on the app trip timeline, browse and download titles on their iOS or Android devices up to 12 hours ahead of their flight. Downloaded content will be stored and available to read "at any time".

Qantas says the app and integration is pending App Store approval and will be available within the next fortnight.
