One of HP's bigger DRUPA announcements was the sale of two digital web presses for a new Kadokawa Corporation site in Japan.

The newly-announced T490M HD PageWide Web Press and Indigo 50000 digital press will power a new digital book production platform in Tokorozawa, Japan.

The T490M HD - a high-speed duplex monochrome inkjet web - and full-colour Indigo will be used to produce a variety of books including paperbacks, light novels, pocketbooks and comic books as well as covers, dust jackets and promotion belts.

"With the new category-defining HP Indigo and PageWide Web Press solutions, Kadokawa will be able to deliver unparalleled production flexibility, faster turnarounds and on-demand printing, differentiating themselves from traditional publishers," director and senior managing executive officer Koichi Sekiya says.
