MAN Ferrostaal has made a first step into the digital printing marketplace with the signing of a reseller agreement with Canon Australia. At the same time, Steve Brown has joined MANF from Canon as general manager digital print. The deal covers digital production print equipment such as Canon’s imagePress C7000VP, C6000 and monochrome imagePress 1110, 1125 and 1135 series. The move is a further indication of the changes taking place at MAN Ferrostaal, which have included a greater focus on consumables and the loss of the manroland press agency. Currently canon is not a player in the digital newspaper printing market space. MAN Ferrostaal Australia Markus Haefeli says the company believes that “in the next 10-15 years” a very large percentage of print will be done on digital printers: “We have taken the decision that MAN Ferrostaal will be a part of this and we are absolutely convinced that together with a company like Canon, we will have an excellent product portfolio to successfully penetrate this market and become a leading supplier of digital solutions to our customer base.”
