SEANG website ready for technical group's conference

Regional technical association the South East Asia Newspaper Group has launched a new website in advance of its 2009 technical conference next month.

The new site at www.seangnews.com includes details of the group’s objective and membership. Sponsored by Conti-Air and manroland, SEANG has gxpress.net as a media partner and patron. Other patrons are Pegras Management Training Centre and the Siam Univerity Printing Engineering Institute.

Newspapers in Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia have already joined SEANG, and more are expected to get involved at the November conference. Currently members include the ‘Bangkok Post’, ‘Daily News’, ‘Matichon’,  ‘Thairath’ and ‘The Nation’ in Thailand, ‘The Star’, ‘The Sun’ and ‘Utusan’ in Malaysia, Singapore Press Holdings in Singapore, and PT Temprina in Indonesia.

Membership costs 500 THB a year, and new members are invited to join at the conference, being held at Bangkok’s Chaophya Park Hotel Bangkok from November 18-20.

The programme – currently being finalised – is expected to social events including golf and a barbeque, as well as a technical and business programme on the second and third days themed on ‘Improving production to help survival in a poor economy’.

“We also hope to attract many more newspapers to join us,” says vice president Stephan Peters. “Several newspapers from Malaysia and Singapore are joining us, and we are talking to others in Myanmar, Cambodia and Vietnam.”
